During 2011 while together researching art anthropology at Minzu University in Beijing China, Andy Bauer and Dieel Guik started this unique music group. The music evokes a special kind of dialogue incorporating different ethnic cultures. The music beholds the mystical mountain sound both of the tropical south and the frigid north, the deserts to the west and the open oceans to the east. Ancestor worship and use of many different languages and ethnic vocal styles are core elements of the music.

Dieel Guik of the H’mong people is from the mountainous area of central Guizhou, in southern China. He is unique amongst Chinese minority nationality musicians: one who searches outside the H’mong point of view in a time where the overwhelming trend across China is performance of traditional folk songs with modern synthesizers. Dieel strives to not only recreate his people’s music in terms of his idea of ‘post-origins’, he also demonstrates a willingness to partake in other minority and majority nationalities affairs as well as musical points of view.

Andy Bauer is an American from the Colorado Rocky Mountains who has resided in many Asian countries while studying languages and music cultures. As an artist and person he strives to walk atop the ‘ethnic-wall’ itself. Ranging from integration of the Tuvan throat singing tradition of Kargyraa as well as Xinjiang Uighur silk-road Turkic peoples fiddle and drum, Andy has many inspirations from Central Asia that he re-indentifies back into his American hard rock roots.
